Chronic pain
It’s not that complicated when you know where to look.
The chronic pain problem
Chronic pain isn’t just frustrating; it can be exhausting. For many of my patients, it looks like back pain that keeps coming back, widespread muscle soreness, fibromyalgia, or pain that moves around without a clear cause.
You may have been told “there’s nothing wrong,” that it’s just tight muscles, or that you’ll have to live with it. Your doctor might suggest doing some yoga to alleviate the symptoms, but it still lingers for months or years. Obviously, this is a sign that something deeper is happening…something worth understanding, not just managing.
Irrespective of your pathology or medical condition, my job is to connect the dots and support the things that are broken, so to speak and support the rest of the system to help mitigate and prevent further issues.
What I have personally learned is that many specialists are great at diagnostics but fail miserably with treatment. That’s the problem, they don’t treat, they diagnose. That’s why they often refer to another specialist to aid and help with the issue. This can become incredibly expensive and frustrating, and still, nobody is treating you; they’re just diagnosing you!
Tired of being told there’s ‘nothing wrong’?
Pain that lasts for months or years doesn’t always mean there’s still an injury. Most of the time, it’s your nervous system staying in protection mode, keeping muscles tight, bracing your posture, and sending pain signals long after the tissues themselves have healed.
This is why your scans might look “normal” while you are still experiencing pain. Your body isn’t making this up; it’s doing its best to keep you safe.
The body remembers
Old injuries, accidents, surgeries, or even stressful life events can leave an imprint on your body. Over time, your nervous system learns to guard the affected area, and that guarding can spread, creating stiffness, changing how you walk, and even triggering pain in completely different areas.
One of the most powerful parts of my work is taking a detailed history. Even something that seems small, like wearing braces as a teenager or an ankle sprain years ago, can help explain why your pain pattern exists today.
Your intelligent pain system
When you understand pain as information rather than an enemy to fight, but to slow down and work with your body instead of against it. This shift opens the door to faster recovery, greater resilience, and long-term freedom from recurring issues.
Pain is not your enemy; it’s information. This information requires you to pay attention, to slow down, and to protect. The goal isn’t just to silence the pain but to understand what it’s trying to tell us. Often, I see visceral issues with organs that are screaming out. Their voice is through the musculoskeletal system, which feeds pain in the muscles, which we perceive as the problem.
When we find and address the root cause, we can retrain your nervous system to trust that it’s safe again. That’s when the pain signals calm down and real healing begins.
My whole body treatment
for chronic pain
My aim isn’t just to treat pain, it’s to help your whole system feel safe enough to stop creating it. Here’s how I do that:
Assessment
In your first session, I take time to understand your full history. We talk about old injuries, accidents, even small details like past dental work or surgeries, because any of these can be clues to why your pain pattern exists today. I look at diet and lifestyle, which have a huge impact on recovery.
Treatment
During the same session, I then start treatment straight away. Using techniques like craniosacral therapy, TMJ release, lymphatic drainage, and corrective muscle work, I reset the nervous system and free up areas that have been holding tension, often for years.
Independence
Before you leave, you will have a better understanding of why you are the way you are. I give you strategies and movements to help keep your system calm and balanced at home. The goal is to give you tools, not make you dependent on endless appointments.

I would say I am generally fit and healthy, but usually suffer a back blow-out once or twice a year, right when I feel I am strong and what i feel is for no reason. I hobble into Roberts studio, stiff and in pain, and I leave walking upright and pain free. All without Robert ever touching my back! Robert understands the source of the problem and treats the actual cause, not the symptom. He's the only physio/chiro I've been to where I actually want to book another appointment. He's helping me solve a lifetime of unresolved shoulder/back/hip/ankle issues from countless past rugby/wakeboarding/snowboarding injuries. Resolving structural imbalances so the body works as it should. Thanks Rob!Posted on sandra fTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I cannot speak highly enough of the exceptional care I received from Robert Morrissey, a truly knowledgeable and skilled musculoskeletal therapist. As someone from a dental prosthetist and educator background, I’ve encountered many patients — and experienced myself — the complexity of TMJ-related issues. When I began treatment, I was dealing with persistent lockjaw (TMJ dysfunction) back issue, and sciatica, which were significantly affecting my quality of life. Through a combination of precise manual therapy, postural correction, and advanced breathing techniques and exercises, Robert was able to address the root causes of my issues — not just the symptoms. The approach was holistic, targeted, and incredibly effective. Today, I am pain-free and continue to integrate the techniques I learned into my daily routine for ongoing stability and wellbeing. I strongly encourage fellow dental professionals to consider referring patients with cranial and TMJ-related issues to an experienced musculoskeletal therapist like Robert. In many cases, successful treatment requires more than just dental intervention. The collaborative, interdisciplinary approach can make a significant difference in patient outcomes. I’m deeply grateful for the care I received and the long-term improvements I’ve experienced.Posted on Carina AndersonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. After years of battling chronic pain, I finally found relief thanks to Robert. Their holistic approach and personalised treatment plan have been nothing short of life-changing. From the very first session, Rob took the time to understand my condition and tailor a comprehensive program to address my specific needs. Their knowledge, professionalism, and genuine compassion set them apart from any other physiotherapist I’ve encountered. I highly recommend Rob to anyone seeking effective and lasting relief from chronic pain. [Follow up] I had to see Rob after returning to Sydney with pretty bad jaw pain, and he was able to fix me right up. The work he does on the lymph nodes is incredible and I can feel the difference within the session. I have yet to meet another practitioner with same level of care and attention!Posted on justine lafreniereTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Amazing service. I had a big pain to my SIJ and I couldn’t walk. After two visit for my pain in SIJ , my pain disappeared !!!!! He didn’t touch my SIJ except for my jaw, neck and it was better , I could walk again and breathe easily. Thanks you Robert xxxxxPosted on christian moraledaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have seen multiple physiotherapist, Chiropractors, Acupuncturist, Osteopaths, remedial massage and so on. No one was able to resolve an issue I had with my shoulder pain. Robert fixed it in one session. I appreciate his time and energy to meticulously explain what he is doing to alleviate the symptom and more importantly how to maintain a lifestyle to support your recovery and be in a top physical state. While physio's etc gave me exercises etc that didnt work, Robert gave me insights on how to practically treat my pain by addressing my lifestyle holistically. He is a true master of his craft and I could not recommend him highly enough. Thank you Robert for being passionate with your craft to support and treat your clients.Posted on Ljiljana VisnicTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. If you need best of the best for your body definitely you will find in Happy body. All great reviews before main explained how Robert makes as happy in our body. I spent many years with very good and well known physiotherapist but Robert looking body from every angle not one spot or one area. This is Big deference. His knowledge is amazing. Extremely professional and make you very comfortable. BEST OF THE BEST ???? ????????❤️Posted on Simon MullinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I chanced upon The Happy Body Clinic while on a short stay in Manly and feel so fortunate and grateful to have done so. “We like a challenge” were the words that lured me in because no amount of MRI scans or Neurology Specialists could diagnose my condition of physical instability. Robert used his own life experience to explain his diagnosis as well as computer images and a skeleton in the suit. It all made sense and four years of searching has not provided anything close to what Robert achieved in 1 session. I will be flying from Melbourne to see him again. Thanks mate you’re changing lives.
